Chapter 8 notes
1. Gatsby tells Nick that he waited for Daisy until 4:30 in the morning.
2. Nick tells him to leave Long Island and forget about daisy.
3. Gatsby says that’s Daisy told him she’d promise to wait for him until after the war but when he came back she was married to Tom.
4. He knows that autumn is in the air and the leaves will be falling off the trees and the gardener is afraid the leaves with clog the drains. Gatsby tells him to wait a day because he’s never swam in his own pool.
5. Nick goes to the office to get work done and refuses to meet with Jordan Baker. The tone and the whole mood of the story changes when they take things back to what happened at the garage with everyone the last time they were all together.
