- I believe that Ray Bradbury chose “The Hearth & The Salamander” as a title because it is probably related to the character , Guy Montag & how he or his job creates fires instead of putting them out.
- The assumptions as a reader , can make the protagonist think they enjoy to burn their stuff or anything really & how the burning changes to ashes
- The imagery is negative , because the firehose is giving out acid like a “python” that is a venomous snake.
- F451 is a title of the book but 451 is the temperature that causes books to burn.
- What strikes Montag about Clarisse is how she’s able to walk around happily , looking around & having her house lights on and having her family talk to each other because other families in the neighborhood don’t.
- “Clarisse “ & “Guy “ are significant because the name “Guy “ is the German word for Monday & how it may symbolize his mental position. & “Clarisse “ is from the Latin term “clarus”, meaning “clear”.
- Clarisse asks Montag , if he’s happy & he responded back saying Yes he was , but didn’t even think about it , he just said it.
- 3 odd things that we’ve learned were , people or in their life people don’t communicate with each other , they’re always home & don’t walk around. No one has their lights on , the only electricity that they get as a “light “ is their Television.
- The 2 similes were “her face bright as snow in the moonlight” & “She had a very thin face like the dial of a small clock seen faintly in a dark room in the middle of a night”
- Montag had realized that he wasn’t happy without having her around.
- “SeaShells “ are a term of AirPods , EarPhones or any kind of headset. & Mildred , uses them to listen to things.
- You can tell that Clarisse is different , she seems more adventurous , she likes to go and explore. Unlike Mildred , she’s all about the electronics & doesn’t really seem to care about her Marriage either. She only worries about herself.
- The machine that Mildred used was describe has a “black cobra “ as the machine slides like a snake. & basically somehow helped her have an open mind toward herself.
- He is started to feel negative about himself from what Milred was going through with out telling Montag about it.
- The difference is that Clarisse household is more bright , it has more lights , it has people who actually talk compared to Montag’s house , dark.
- The reason why Montag is saying that he doesn't know anymore because he began to think & have a open-minded with his thoughts.
- Bradbury, characterizes Mildred as a hurt , broken person because the way he describes her it’s like she doesn’t have feelings & has depression & tries to think that her reality is fine when really it isn’t. It shows because when Mildred & Montag spoke it showed that she wasn’t thinking right & isn’t open minded.
- Clarisse is sent to a psychiatrist because she enjoys to nature & hiking in nature , she’s happy & she doesn’t watch television & is basically the opposite from everyone else in their society.
- A hound is a mechanical machine that is meant to kill people & track down for those who are against their society or having books , whatsoever. Montag is bothered because the hounds don’t like him either.
- The reason why the Lady , wanted to stay and die with her books is because she wanted to live in a world where she can enjoy what she does or did , she loved reading & she wanted to show them that she would stand up for how wrong it was to burn books
